Presidents in Parody: George H. W. Bush and Dana Carvey

Saturday Night Live (abbreviated as SNL) is a late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show, airing on Saturday nights of course. It was created by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol. The show premiered on NBC on October 11, 1975, and for the past 40 years, Presidential imitators have been a staple of its comedy diet. One of the most famous of these was comedian Dana Carvey's imitation of President George H. W. Bush.

To his credit, Bush41 was very good-natured about Carvey's imitation. Bush was defeated in the 1992 Presidential election by Bill Clinton, aided by having some of Bush's votes siphoned off by third party candidate Ross Perot. A month after losing that election, Bush invited Carvey and his wife to the December 13, 1992 White House Christmas party, where Carvey gave a humorous address and Bush was gracious and kind in his response.

Carvey told his audience “The way to do the president is to start out with Mister Rogers. Then you add a little John Wayne, you put ’em together and you got George Herbert Walker Bush.”

In case you've never seen Carvey's imitation of the 41st President, here is his speech at the 1992 White House Christmas party:

Bush made a cameo on SNL's 2000 special "Presidential Bash". Here is a brief clip from that cameo:
