A Question for the Membership

I need your guidance on something pertaining to this community. I made it so that memberships for this community require approval, mainly to keep out spammers. (For some reason they think it's worthwhile to spam this group with ads for viagra and cheap Reeboks.) A member has applied to join the group with the user name of "Hitler". I'm not a big fan of censorship, aside from censoring spam or rudeness, but I was concerned that this user-name might offend some people, especially those members who are Jewish, or whose families may have had some history with the holocaust. (This summer I toured an exhibit at the Eisenhower museum about the liberation of POWs at Auschwitz and I confess, it left a strong impression on me.)

The applicant has politely expressed displeasure at my decision to reject the membership, so I'm seeking your guidance about whether you think I'm being unfair or not. If a significant number of you are offended, I'll continue the ban, but if the consensus is that I'm being unfair or overreacting, then I'll approve the membership.
