The Last Campaign: the Politics of Presidential Libraries
The other day I received an email from Anthony Clark, the author of a forthcoming book entitled The Last Campaign: the Politics of Presidential Libraries. The book will examine the history and small-p politics behind six presidential libraries. The six libraries are: the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library in Hyde Park, NY; the Lyndon B. Johnson Library in Austin, TX; the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA: the Jimmy Carter Library in Atlanta, GA; the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, CA; and the George W. Bush Library in Dallas, TX.
For more information, please follow the link above (on the title of the book). The link will also give you the opportunity to support the author's endeavors and purchase an advance copy of the book (something I did.)
Following is a video with the story behind this book:
The book's author, Anthony Clark, has written articles on Congressional procedure, the George W. Bush Library, the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight, and access to records at the National Archives. He oversaw presidential libraries for the U.S. Congress and also managed oversight of the presidential library system as a Professional Staff Member for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, directing hearings and investigations of the National Archives. On April 25, 2013 he published a cover story at Salon.com about presidential libraries, coinciding with the opening of the George W. Bush Library in Dallas, Texas. He was also a Speechwriter, Legislative Director and Professional Staff Member in the House of Representatives (2000-2001; 2009-2013) and the Speechwriter, Social Media and Communications Director for a 2012 House Democratic primary campaign. He has worked for two Members of Congress and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, where his responsibilities included presidential libraries, the National Archives, presidential and federal records, federal information policy and the 2010 Census. He earned a Master’s degree in Management & Systems from New York University and spent eighteen years as an IT consultant, trainer and writer.
