The Presidents in Movies: The President's Lady
Long before he was President of the NRA, actor Charlton Heston played another president, Andrew Jackson, in the 1953 film The President's Lady. The film was about the life of American president, Andrew Jackson and his marriage to Rachel Donelson Robards. The film was made by 20th Century Fox, directed by Henry Levin and produced by Sol C. Siegel with Levin as associate producer. The screenplay was by John Patrick, based on the novel by Irving Stone, the music score by Alfred Newman and the cinematography by Leo Tover. The film also stars Susan Hayward as Rachel.

The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Art Direction: Lyle R. Wheeler, Leland Fuller and Paul S. Fox and for Best Costume Design: Charles LeMaire and Renié. Charlton Heston played Andrew Jackson once again in the 1958 film The Buccaneer, about the Battle of New Orleans.
The film comes across as very sappy and melodramatic. A fight scene in which Jackson thrashes someone in a general store who besmirches Rachel's honor is quite campy, but taken with a grain of salt, it's quite amusing.

The entire film The President's Lady can be seen here, but below is a clip from the film:
