Listens: The Offspring-"She's Got Issues (and I'm Gonna Pay)"

Election 2012: Job Creation

Both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have campaign websites with section setting out each candidate's position on some of the leading issues in the campaign. Romney's website can be found at www.mittromney.com and President Obama's is similarly addressed at www.barackobama.com A caution for anyone visiting these webpages: be prepared to have the first thing you see be a donation solicitation.

Once you get past that, both candidates offer a link to "Issues" on the menu of their websites. Obama is more direct in using the heading "Jobs and the Economy" while Romney uses the MBAspeak heading of "Human Capital".

ObamaJobCreation

The Obama page makes the statetement that the Obama administration has "added back more than 4.6 million private sector jobs and seen 30 straight months of job growth" but cautions that "there’s more work to do". The page contains a series of graphs tendered in support of the claim of 30 straight months of job growth, a number of months of job groowth in the manufacturing sector, the auto industy "on the rebound", as well as a section on consumer protection.

The Romney webpage begins with a critique of "Obama's Failure". It critizes the President for leting "government take the lead', pouring billions of dollars into programs having little accountability while continuing to feed the debt. It goes on to describe "Mitt's Plan" which promises to involve state governments and the private sector. It also presses for an immigration program that would attract "the best and the brightest". The webpage also offers a link to Romney's "Five Point Plan" of energy independence, access to education, increased foreign trade, deficit reduction and support for small business.

You can decide whether these webpages offer any clearer idea on what steps the candidates will take to improve the economy. In the meantime, I'm curious as to what issue is at the top of your list in importance.

EDIT: Oops! Somebody doesn't spell check very well. "imployment"=employment
