Saturday Night Live and the Presidents

Recently, MSNBC reported that Mitt Romney is discussing making an appearance on the NBC show Saturday Night Live, which, since 1975, has been airing skits parodying the Presidents from Nixon to Obama. From the show's inception, comedian Chevy Chase portrayed a stumbling accident-prone Gerald Ford while his fellow cast member Dan Ackroyd portrayed first Richard Nixon and later Jimmy Carter. Ronald Reagan was portrayed first by Charles Rocket and later by the late Phil Hartman. Dana Carvey portrayed the parts of both George H. W. Bush and his opponent H. Ross Perot. Long-serving cast member Darrell Hammond was called on to play the part of a very lecherous Bill Clinton and Will Ferrell acted as a moronic George W. Bush. Of the new cast, Fred Armisen has been cast as incumbent President Barack Obama.

Recently the website Funny or Die reunited all of these cast members (with the exception of Hartman, who was murdered in 1998 by his wife) for a skit encouraging viewers to lobby for a Consumer Finance Protection Act (CFPA). In the skit Reagan was played by actor Jim Carrey. Following, for your amusement, is the Funny or Die video entitled Presidential Reunion. (The part of Michelle Obama is played by actress Maya Rudolph).
