Christmas in Washington
Christmas in Washington is an annual Christmas television special that is a one hour concert featuring various musical genres. It is customary for the President and first lady to make a closing address at the end of the show. It currently airs on the TNT network.

The show first aired in 1981 on NBC before moving to its current home on TNT in 1998. It is recorded in Washington, D.C. at the National Building Museum, on the second Sunday of each December before being re-edited for later broadcast. Each guest performs at least one solo, but the marquee performer usually has one or two more songs. The show also has at least one guest from the world of opera. Each of the musical performances are backed by a full orchestra and chorus. The proceeds from the event are for the benefit of a local charity, currently the National Children's Medical Center.
The show is hosted by a celebrity. In recent years, some of the hosts have included Sarah Michelle Geller, Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife, Robin, Patricia Heaton, George Lopez and Ellen DeGeneris. The 2011 edition was hosted by Conan O'Brien and featured Canadian Justin Bieber as the marquee performer. The full show will air live on pay-per-view internationally and in most major cities. A re-edited 42-minute (without commercials in a one-hour slot) version will air later in December via the aforementioned TNT network. This year the show is scheduled to air on this coming Friday, December 16th at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. CST). Other performers this year are Cee-Lo Green, Jennifer Hudson, Victoria Justice and the Band Perry.
